Filmmaker Ing Kanjanavanit’s adaptation of Macbeth, “Shakespeare Tong Tie” (Shakespeare Must Die), has been banned by censors with speculation rife that the story, which contains off-scene regicide, touches on politically sensitive issues and can be interpreted as an anti-Thaksin Shinawatra allegory. The director however, claims her movie has been banned due to a “climate of fear”. Video by Kong Rithdee and ChumTAK Sangvilert.
