PM asks for help from military

The government has asked the armed forces to help maintain peace and order after the bomb attacks at four branches of the Bangkok Bank yesterday, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Sunday.

Mr Abhisit said the bomb attacks were not surprising as the government realizes that some groups are trying to provoke unrest in the country.

“The government will try its best to control the situation even though it is difficult to oversee all risk areas”, the prime minister said.

He confirmed that he has ordered the military troops to help ensure peace and order as requested by police.

Mr Abhisit called the people to help the government in maintaining peace and order, saying the political conflicts should be settled through parliamentary mechanism.
