 SEVERAL northeastern provinces were hit by heavy rains and flooding yesterday as the Northeast braved downpours triggered by a tropical storm.

Downpours have triggered heavy floods in wide areas in Thailand's northern provinces of Nan and Phayao, ravaging properties and prompting officials to warn residents to brace for further damage amid the persistent rain.
In Nan's Muang district there are at least six declared flood disaster areas with more than 1,000 houses affected.
