Police arrested a Turkish man at a rented room in Bangkok's Nong Chok district Saturday afternoon and found a lot of bomb making tools and materials.
The arrest took place at Poon-anand apartment in Nongchok district in eastern Bangkok. A large quantity of explosive-making materials were found at the apartment.
The arrest was made after about 100 police and troops surrouned the apartment at at 1:30 pm.
Among things found were 0.5 cm diametre ball bearing similar to those found at the bomb sites at Ratchaprasong Intersection and Sathorn pier. The Ratchaprason attack happened on August 17.
Police and troops surrounded the apartment building on Soi Chuamsamphan 11 for about two hours before making the raid.
Several senior police officers joined the raid, including Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Sriwarah Rangsitpramkul and Crime Suppression Division Commander Maj Gen Akkaradej Pimolsri.
The suspect was renting rooms No 412 and 414 on the fourth floor of the apartment, a police source said.

Bangkok blast: bombings possibly linked to human trafficking
...............................................................................................................
On Tuesday, Thai police arrested a prime bomb suspect near the Thai-Cambodian border.
Identified by authorities as Yusufu Mieraili, the suspect admitted to being at the Erawan Shrine.
But he denied planting the bomb.
However, the suspect’s fingerprints match those found on the bomb-making materials discovered at the weekend.
The pink items found in Mieraili’s apartment in Bangkok are not available in Thailand.
Thai police chief initially said he believed the bombings were possibly linked to human trafficking.
Police said those who affected by the crackdown on human-trafficking might be behind the bombings.
Police spokesman said the immigration office had been told to step up their controls or face penalties.

Shrine bombing suspect recants confession, claims torture
A Chinese ethnic Uighur man arrested for last year’s Erawan Shrine bombing denied on Monday charges of murder or involvement in the attack that killed 20 people, retracting an earlier confession his lawyer said he was tortured into making.
Bilal Mohammed, also known as Adem Karadag, is due to appear at a military court on Tuesday, along with a second suspect, Yusufu Mieraili, to formally hear the charges. Police said both men had confessed to having a role in the Aug 17 explosion.
A lawyer for Mr Mohammed said his client was coerced into confessing that he took part in the attack. Most of the victims were foreign tourists, raising concerns that the country's lucrative tourist industry could suffer.
"At the time he was tortured and under pressure. That is why he confessed to the charges against him," lawyer Schoochart Kanpai told Reuters after visiting Mr Mohammed in detention. "He still maintains he has no involvement in this. The only charge he accepts is illegal entry."

A Thai woman suspected of facilitating the 2015 Erawan Shrine bombing, the deadliest attack in Bangkok, returned to Thailand and was taken into police custody on Wednesday evening.
It was reported that Wanna Suansan, 30, arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport with two young sons aged three and eighteen months. After being greeted by waiting relatives, she was whisked away to the Royal Thai Police Office for interrogation.
Her sister-in-law Em-on Suansan was quoted as saying that her family had not seen Mrs Wanna since 2015, and Mrs Wanna returned to prove her innocence in the justice system.
