Cops charged with drug possession
Four policemen have been dismissed for allegedly possessing more than 350,000 methamphetamine pills and about five kilogrammes of crystal meth, or ice, Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Winai Thongsong said Wednesday.
Pol Lt Gen Winai said the four men, all from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, confiscated yaba and ice yesterday, but they did not bring legal action against the suspects or report the seizure to their superiors.
He said the police will set up a disciplinary committee to investigate the four men, who have been charged with corruption and negligence of duty.
The four policemen are: Pol Lt Cherngchob Ratchakom, Pol Sen Sgt Maj Somsak Thiprasameewongse, Pol Sgt Maj Pattara Vorachanan and Pol Cpl Noppadol Phan-aree.
A man was also detained for alleged illegal involvement with the four officers, the city police chief said.
The police know where the drugs came from and will investigate and arrest them, he added.
